vision:TOLEDO Business Association

Next vTBA meeting in June

It’s official.  The VISION:TOLEDO BUSINESS ASSOCIATION is alive and kicking!  A group of about 40 Greater Toledo Community business owners met on January 5 at Toledo’s Daily Grind. (Thanks, Jeanine)

The newly formed VISION:TOLEDO BUSINESS ASSOCIATION is a group of business owners who are willing to cooperate by actively participating in and/or promoting events, both public and private, for the good of the Greater Toledo Community.

WHERE: The Greater Toledo Area is defined as being within the Toledo School District and/or the 864 calling area and/or the 98591 zip code area.

WHAT: When there is an event happening in the Greater Toledo Community vTBA gets involved:

Public events might include the Community Clean Up Day, Cheese Days, Riverfest, Blue Grass Festival, Threshing Bee, Cowlitz Indian Pow Wow, Walk & Knock,

Private events might include Mardi Gras (Harry’s), Plomondon Film Festival (MAC), Cinco de Mayo (Los Pepes), Steelhead Derby (Lovells), Movie in the Park (Toledo Tel), Kid Fest (IGA),

WHY:  If we all work together we can better inform the Greater Toledo Community of local events, and by pooling our resources, inform consumers outside the GTC of what’s happening in Toledo.  A small effort by us should bring big rewards for the vTBA and our community.

HOW

ACTIVE PROMOTION:  signs, reader boards, word of mouth, TOWN CRier, websites, etc

A sign for an event can be sent by email from Business “A” to Business “B,C,D,etc”.   Then those businesses download and print the sign and place it in their windows.

ACTIVE PARTICIPATION:  Businesses B,C,D can offer special offerings, discounts, menu items, decorations, etc

For example:

Harry’s Place wants to start a Mardi Gras event.  They spearhead the event and email signs.

So, Los Pepes could sell special Mardi Gras mojitos & download, print, & post Harry’s sign.

Daily Grind could sell Cajan Coffee & download, print, & post Harry’s sign.

Betty’s could sell spicy fries & download, print, & post Harry’s sign.

Sandy could sell King Cakes & download, print, & post Harry’s sign.

Morgan Arts Centre teaches a mask making class to kids & announces it on reader board.

Each Toledo business can get involved at whatever level they feel comfortable.

But by joining the vTBA businesses are agreeing to at least help other vTBA businesses promote their events (by signs & word of mouth)

• Also, they agree not to do anything to detract from another vTBA business’s event (by signs & word of mouth).

  1. If businesses want to actively participate that is up to each business     owner.

  2. Right now we are looking to have only two meetings a year -- in January and in June.

Vision:TOLEDO is an all inclusive group of people who want to make Toledo a better place to live.

We are not waiting for Superman to come and rescue us.

You can join us and lend your skills as an organizer, a worker, a vendor, a musician, a computer geek, a gardener, a fisherman, an artist, an innovator, a writer, a photographer, a financial advisor, a carpenter, a boat owner, a club member, an historian, a craftsperson, a benefactor.

Well, you get the idea.
